This EMJM is 2 years (4 semesters) program in the field of Sustainable Biomass and Bioproducts Engineering: (SBBE) corresponding to 120 ECTS credits. The program is implemented and developed by combining the joint expertise of the SBBE Consortium which consists of 3 Full Partners HEI (Higher Education Institution) from EU Program Countries. The demand for green technologies related to the use of bioproducts and biofuels is included in many sustainable development directives. Our Master Degree in Chemical Engineering is the first program in Europe aimed specifically at chemistry for bio-fuels, bio-based chemicals and bioproducts curriculum. This sustainable approach considers the entire product life cycle from its agricultural origin to its overall renewability following circular economy principles. The proposal includes innovations and strategies for biomass use in variety of applications, e.g. biorefinery, three-dimensional (3D) printing with bioplastics, multipurpose crops, valorising residues and food waste, and biowaste treatment. The proposed EMJM programme will allow students to acquire: (1) fundamental knowledge of an advanced organic chemistry for biobased materials and their in-depth analysis, (2) engineering knowledge about the design and operation of industrial facilities for the bioproducts at industrial scale, such as: separation and purification processes, biochemical reactors engineering; and process control and industrial measurements, (3) practical knowledge about green technologies involved in the production of the biobased vectors, effective raw material utilization, energy consumption by minimizing environmental impacts and increasing competitiveness of bio-based products industries.
